Gardens and Grounds
Hoscote Estate is set in a secluded 450 acre site in the heart of the Scottish Borders, boasting magnificent views over open moorland.
As well as the extensive south facing lawns surrounding Hoscote House there is the beautiful Walled Garden which has played host to wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, barbeques and picnics. The vast array of plant life in the Walled Garden has attracted some rare and beautiful butterflies as well as a huge variety of bird and insect species.
In recent years a new fishing pond and picnic area has been developed on the west side of the estate as a haven for local wildlife; after only a short time the area is teeming with waterfowl and fish. Running through Hoscote Estate close to the new wildlife area is the Borthwick Water river which, according to The Tweed Foundation, has a healthy stock of trout & salmon.
The remainder of the estate is made up of moorland and woodland which have walks and trails mapped out for adventure seekers. Whilst on a walk or bike ride around the estate be sure to be on the lookout for red squirrels; thanks to a red squirrel conservation project this threatened species now thrives again in the Hoscote woodland.
